China and India, together, generate a huge demand for lipidomic equipment due to the large number of projects that are underway in several end-user industries in these countries. Earlier, the development of automated mass spectrometer solutions mainly focused on pre- and post-analytical areas. Shimadzu, Thermo Fisher, Tecan Group, Agilent, SCIEX, Waters, and Aurora have introduced semiautomated mass spectrometers in the last few years. In 2022, Thermo Fisher launched Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer, a fully automated system designed for simplifying clinical testing processes; currently, only one vitamin D assay can be run on this Thermo Fisher analyzer.

The Cascadion features automated sample preparation, dedicated assays, and LIS connectivity. The launch of such fully automated systems has created the scope for the complete automation of lipidome characterization. Thus, automated lipidomic equipment is likely to emerge as a new trend in the lipidomic equipment market during the forecast period.
